The poor are not the point. Jesus loves the poor, He has compassion for the poor, He wants us to help the poor - but the poor are not the point. The center of Christianity is Christ. And even our efforts to relieve human suffering should grow out of a deep desire to serve Jesus. That point was driven home powerfully in the event we began to study yesterday.
