Under the Old Covenant your sins could be covered. But only covered. The blood of an animal could bring a temporary veil for your offense, but total cleansing of sin would require a different kind of sacrifice - a deeper, more valuable offering - in an act that could never be repeated. In the first chapter of his letter to the Hebrews, the author shows us the sharp contrast between the old and the new ways of relating to God - and especially between the many imperfect messengers, and the one flawless Message.
