The people of God should be status-blind. Jesus restored the dignity of people who were at the bottom of the social pecking-order: women, the poor, children, foreigners, even lepers. Without subverting authority - and that's important to note - the Lord upheld the intrinsic value of each person. This teaching has implications for us, as His followers.
