Secure In Jesus Christ

Our biggest failure isn't something we attempt, and then crash and burn. It's a gift we don't open. There are several gifts, or "endowments," that we can find in Romans, chapter 8. Jim will help us see a couple of them today. They are presents that will totally change our lives. Indeed, we can't even live the Christian life without recognizing and receiving these gifts. So let's look again at this glorious chapter, as we hear the first part of the sermon, Secure in Jesus Christ. Jim opens with prayer.

Unwrapping God's Love Gifts

Who doesn't like to get presents? It's like Christmas morning, only better, as we're discovering the gifts that God has piled up for us in Romans, chapter 8. But unlike most of the gifts we've received in the past, these are presents that we won't outgrow, or break - these are eternal and glorious. And if you're not quite clear on the meaning of the word "flesh," as it's used in the Bible, Pastor Jim will offer a helpful definition in this message. It's called, Unwrapping God's Love Gifts. Here's Part 1.

Living By The Spirit

There are good groans, and bad groans! "The whole creation groans," Paul writes to us in Romans 8. And we're only aware of some of the constraints that the Curse of Genesis 3 has put on the physical universe. But these are the groans of childbirth - they are groans with hope! And that's where we Christians are now, too: groaning in this fallen world, suffering, yes - but sure of something better that's coming. Pastor Jim will pray to open his sermon, Living by the Spirit.

Paul's Personal Heartache

When Paul shook off the dust of his feet at the Jews, it wasn't the grit that caused his voice to choke, and his eyes to water. Paul's heart was broken for his extended family, the sons of Israel. As a group they had rejected their Messiah before Pilate, and they continued to reject the message of His resurrection, and His offer of life. The Apostle had been blind once, himself; so he could fully identify with them. And he knew their situation was desperate. Here's Jim to open a sermon called, Paul's Personal Heartache.

Jews Who Are Not Israelites

Are the Jews really that special? Here's the rub: How can God's promises stand, after Israel has rejected the Promised One? To feel the weight of this difficulty, we have to appreciate the privileges that come with being an Israelite. Back in Romans 3 Paul asked, "What advantage, then, has the Jew?" He answered, "Much in every way!" but didn't give us a list. Here in Romans 9 is the list. Jim will pray, then launch his new sermon, Jews Who Are Not Israelites.
