Exodus III

Heavenly Bread And Rocky Water

We depend on God for every bite of food - but many haven't figured that out, yet. In the wilderness the children of Israel were reminded every day that they had food in their tummies because God wanted it so. And if this was true of the manna, it was also true of water, and breath. We live by God's decision, and word. That's total dependency! And there was something deeper that the manna taught, as well. We start the week with a new sermon from Jim, called Heavenly Bread and Rocky Water.

My Kingdom Of Priests

There was trouble in the Moses household. Yes, not only did Moses always seem to have dissent and near-mutiny simmering in the ranks, he had no peace at home, either. In our previous get-together, Jim gave the local congregation a homework assignment: Find out what caused Moses' wife Zipporah to go back and stay with her father Jethro, the priest of Midian. The strange answer will be the springboard into our new conversation, called My Kingdom of Priests. Here's Part 1 of that message from Pastor Jim.

The Sanctuary

While God is preparing a place for His people, He asks them to make a place for Him. With the children of Israel camped at the foot of Sinai, God reveals His plans for them. And He gives Moses the plans for the Tabernacle - a portable sanctuary. All of these plans have the same purpose: God and man as next-door neighbors, ultimately with our relationship restored. Here's Part 1 of Jim's sermon, The Sanctuary.

Payment For Sin

Moses was about to make God a desperate offer. No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him - For the redemption of his soul is costly.... That's from Psalm 49. Moses, of course, had never heard that Psalm. To save Israel from the wrath of God he would offer himself for punishment instead. God's response, and the principles behind it, are the subject of Jim's thoughts today. Here is the complete sermon, Payment for Sin.

God Establishes Moses and The Land

Moses was humble. Aaron and Miriam were humbled. Another day in the wilderness, another scene displaying the ugliness of human nature: this time it's Moses' siblings indulging themselves in envy. They wanted glory, but they would get disgrace, instead. We've been reading in Exodus, but we'll flip over to the book of Numbers for this message, called God Establishes Moses and the Land.
