Parables aren't exactly "code," but when presented expertly, they can serve the purpose of enlightening insiders, while keeping outsiders in the dark. And Jesus was the expert's Expert at parables. Again, Matthew connects the dots back to Old Testament prophecy, to remind us that this is exactly what we could expect Messiah to do.
