Never Be A Stumbling Block

If you "always let your conscience be your guide," you're forgetting someone! Paul pens a radical idea in Romans 14: Since there will be differences of opinion in the church, for the sake of unity I should be constrained by someone else's conscience! With the "pros" and the "cons" both bending over backwards to accommodate each other, there won't be any disputes about doubtful matters. Well, we obviously haven't listened to that wisdom. Let's start today, with Pastor Jim's sermon, Never Be a Stumbling Block

Let Us No Longer Criticize

Our freedom of conscience in Christ is a good thing. But the devil can use good things! As we've been studying Romans 14 we've been thinking with Paul about the principle of "Christian liberty." Not every issue is black-and-white, and differing views - on the nonessentials - are welcome in the church. But freedom is a dangerous thing. We need to be careful that our "rights" don't lead to wrongs. Pastor Jim will begin with prayer, then we'll hear his complete sermon, Let Us No Longer Criticize

Living The Good Life

Was Paul flattering the Roman Christians when he told them they were "full of goodness?" Recall what Jesus said on this topic: "Only One is good." And we read from Paul's own pen earlier in this letter, "There is none righteous, no, not one." So what's changed? We'll think about that and more, as we spend some time in what Pastor Jim calls the "neglected parts" of the book of Romans. We begin the new month with a new sermon. This one's called, Living the Good Life. Here's Pastor Jim to open with prayer.

The Heart Of The Missionary - Paul

We're not God's puppets... but we can be His instruments! "Oh, to do something lasting and meaningful," our hearts cry. To please God, to bless people, to leave a legacy - these are things that even non-Christians want, though they may not know it yet! We all long to be used as an instrument in the hands of our Maker. Paul knew quite a bit about that. Let's listen as Jim advances our study of Romans 15.

Be Wise About What Is Good

Paul was a "people person." Who knew? Saul the Pharisee was a ruthless, cold-hearted man. He woke up every morning with hatred and murder in his heart. As the born-again Paul he had a wide circle of friends - and family. We know him so well for his theological mind that we might miss the dramatic change God made in his heart. What does this mean to us? Let's find out, as Pastor Jim launches the final lesson of our Romans series, Be Wise About What is Good.
