We like to imagine that God's "cutoff line" is somewhere below us, but above that other guy. It sounds pretty silly when you say it out loud - that God will "grade on the curve." "If He didn't," we think, "His kingdom would be empty." Wrong, and wrong. In order to appreciate the Good News we must feel the full impact of the bad news: We have zero chance of getting into heaven on our own merits.
