Joseph and Mary: just a couple of random, poverty-stricken immigrants - right? No, all wrong. A lot of our accepted Christmas narrative is "filler" - flimsy additions to the Scriptural accounts, and some of those additions carry an agenda. We should always be suspicious about that. Joseph and Mary were actually not common folk, and not even poor. How do we know that? And what else have we gotten mixed-up?
