In Old Testament times, as today, a lot of people were on a religious hamster wheel. There's a lot of activity, but no progress. The author of Hebrews makes an ingenious argument in Chapter 10: If the animal sacrifices and the Temple rituals could really make us acceptable to God, why did the priests have to keep doing them? All that repetition doesn't make us saints; it just reminds us continually that we're still sinners! Today Pastor Jim begins a new sermon entitled, How Jesus' Sacrifice Saves.
