We all know what it's like to have no hope. We were once "separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world." But that changed when we surrendered our lives to Jesus. There are people who are still "without hope" - the hope that they will ever see their loved ones beyond the grave, for starters.
