What A Way To Live!

The Goal Of Education

On today's episode: dogs, hogs...and a singing fish. If we've listened through Jesus' Sermon on the Mount to about the 2/3 mark - really listened and obeyed - then our lives have changed. And we may be tempted to think that we now "have it all together," and that we're just a tiny bit better than others who haven't found the Way. That's the context for the famous phrase, "Judge not." Here's Jim.

Don't Ask

If you're too holy to pray for your own needs, Jesus has a word for you: "Ask." The word "pray" in fact means "ask," and we already know that the Father wants us to pray. So He says, through His Son, "Ask - and keep asking." It may seem like a low-level relationship to come to God because we need things, but maybe that's where we have to start. Here's Jim in Matthew 7.

Choose Your Career

You choose your destination when you board the airplane. And no, they're not all going to the same place! The bad news is that most people are headed for a horrible destination. The good news is that we get to decide. The problem is that many folks want to take the "highway to hell" and somehow end up in heaven. This will not happen, says Jesus. We've come to the Application section of the Sermon on the Mount.

A Very Present Danger

Well, well, well! Look who's not singing "Kum Bah Yah." We live in an age of tolerance - supposedly. All points of view are held to be equal... except the view that not all views are equal. "Inclusiveness" is the word on everyone's lips. But there's Someone who doesn't fit in, in this fantasy world where everyone fits in. It's Jesus. In His Sermon on the Mount He stands against fake truth and those who sell it. Here's Jim with Part 1 of A Very Present Danger.

In That Day

Plato said, "The worst of all deceptions is self deception." He didn't know how right he was. As Jesus begins to wrap up the address that we've come to call the Sermon on the Mount, He warns us about false teachers, and then He reveals something worse: false followers - people who believe they believe, and who can support their claim with supernatural effects, but whom the Lord dramatically disowns. Here's Part 1 of Jim's important sermon, In That Day
