Messenger Of God's Grace

There seems to be a pattern here! You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to see the "M.O." of the Hebrews; they had a long history of rejecting their appointed leaders. The prime example was Moses, but there were many others. Our man Stephen sharpens the point in Acts, chapter 7: "Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute?" The sons had followed a terrible family tradition - and they were about to do it again. Here's Pastor Jim to talk about the Messenger of God's Grace.

Meet Philip

The gospel goes where it's welcome - even to the "wrong side of the tracks." Give the religious elite of Israel their due: they were consistent. They "let their No be No." They refused to listen to John or Jesus or Peter or Stephen. There was no waffling, and no tolerance. It was their way or the highway. But once the Christians were on the highway, the message could go out everywhere... just as the Lord said it would. Pastor Jim's new sermon is called, Meet Philip.

The Limits Of God's Grace

God saves some people to show us that He can! In Acts 8 the Lord sends Philip to a specific man, and thoroughly orchestrates his conversion. He was definitely a foreigner. And he was a eunuch, but a politically powerful man; no doubt a rich man. He was just about as far away as he could be, demographically, from the average Christ-follower at the time. God seems to be making a point. Pastor Jim will pray to open a sermon called, The Limits of God's Grace.

Paul's Encounter With God

When everything you know really is wrong. Very few are granted a moment like the one Saul had on his way to Damascus: an instant when his whole life was turned over. Suddenly, up was down, black was white. To be standing in front of the detested Nazarene, not dead but alive - and in all His divine glory and power - must have seemed like the end of Saul's life. And in a way, of course, it was. Our Acts series continues with the message, Paul's Encounter with God. Here's Pastor Jim to bring us Part 1.

Peter's Final Exam

God is going to have to open Peter's mind...slowly. During all of Simon's lifetime, and for many lifetimes before, what we call the "Old" Covenant was the only covenant. And it was an agreement between God, and the people of Israel, alone. It wouldn't be easy to get used to the idea of a covenant open to everyone. That old dog Peter was going to have to learn some new tricks.
